Lorraine Canham

HR Consultant

Lorraine is Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development qualified, offering expert guidance on a wide range of employee matters. Her passion for HR was ignited during her time in the Education Sector while completing a foundation degree at Derby University, which led her to further explore and excel in HR within the private sector.

Known for her strong affinity for working with people, Lorraine has developed an extensive and comprehensive HR knowledge base and loves working with small and medium size businesses to help them grow.

Her diverse background spans roles in the NHS, Education, Technology, Pharmaceuticals, and Manufacturing sectors, where she has expertly handled absence and performance management, disciplinaries, grievances, recruitment, and apprenticeships. Lorraine is also a qualified Mental Health First Aider and a Motivational Maps Practitioner, bringing a holistic approach to her work. Additionally, she is a certified Career Coach through her NLP training, equipping her with the tools to support both individual and organizational growth.

In her spare time, she is also a Trustee with New Meanings Foundation and loves travelling whenever she can.

Ashleigh Salt

Senior Human Resources Advisor

I am an experienced HR Advisor with a Level 5 qualification from the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD), coming from a Recruitment background before moving into HR.

I have supported businesses in most industries, although I spent many HR years in the dynamic hospitality industry, where I have developed an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities within this sector, particularly navigating casual contracts and contrasting personalities.

One of the things I enjoy in HR is guiding business owners and their employees through challenging and highly emotional situations, such as redundancy projects. I like to reinforce the human approach into something which can be quite process driven, aiming to achieve the best outcome for everyone involved.

My favourite food has to be Lasagne, or anything Italian!

Sophie Cuthbert

Human Resources Officer

Our HR Officer Sophie Cuthbert is a dedicated HR professional with a BA (Hons) degree in Business and Human Resource Management from Anglia Ruskin University. With over two years of experience at Fig HR, Sophie is passionate about inclusive workplaces and driving employee engagement.

Her commitment to creating positive and productive work environments shows in her favourite HR practices, which include guiding new employees through onboarding and integration. Sophie is also keen on developing her skills in Learning and Development, ensuring continuous growth for both employees and our clients at Fig HR.

Outside of her professional life, Sophie is a mother of two, soon to be three children. She loves spending quality time with her family and enjoys planning fun days out with her children and partner. Sophie’s blend of professionalism and personal warmth makes her a valued member of the Fig HR team, where she works hard to make a meaningful impact on both our client’s business’ and our company’s culture.

Sue Bell

Operations Administrator

My professional background spans various administrative and customer service roles across the years from working as a school secretary to serving as health and safety administrator in the oil and gas field.

At Fig HR I focus on managing the accounts and handling the essential background administration, allowing the team to use their incredible HR expertise to support our clients both old and new. In my spare time I love spending it with my family, with 5 children and 11 grandchildren, two small dogs plus I’m a member of the Red Hatters Society which keeps me very busy when I’m not working.

With a wealth of knowledge in the education sector my approachable nature and genuine enthusiasm make me not only a reliable HR professional but also a trusted ally for colleagues.

Outside of my professional life, I love reading and watching movies. I also have a keen interest in fashion.
